The Australian Institute of Genealogical Studies is a Family History Library and Research Centre staffed by volunteer members for the benefit of members and visitors.
We have one paid staff member who, as Office Manager, very efficiently carries out the day to day running of the organization. Volunteer members assist by carrying out all the other tasks required to competently operate our Institute to the satisfaction of our two thousand plus members and we welcome new people to our ranks.
All members have expertise gained in various fields that would be of assistance in the running of the Institute and well qualify them to join our dedicated band of Volunteers.
Members assist with everything from Housekeeping and Maintenance; Publicity and Outside Events; ‘The Genealogist’ Magazine; Care of the Library Collection and Acquisitions; Financial matters; Membership; Interest and Area Groups; Computers; Education; Transcription and Indexing of records for future publications; to Co-ordinating Volunteers; Research for the Genealogical Community; The AIGS Website; Members’ Interests, Representing AIGS on Genealogical Committees; Library assistance and belonging to our Committee of Management, the Council.
If you are able to spare any time, from as little as a few hours a month to some time each week, we would welcome your assistance and invite you to join our very friendly band of volunteers.
Please email the or the with your contact details or any queries and we shall get back to you.
